John Håkansson is a Swedish artist working primarily with photography. He earned his degree in photography from the University of Photography in Gothenburg and furthered his studies at the Academy of Photography at Konstfack, Stockholm. He often works in series, using repetition and sequences over varying time spans as methods. He has an interest in the impact of human activity on nature. Landscape and architecture are common motifs, and suburbs are recurring subjects. For example, his first book, I närheten, was photographed in all the suburbs he has lived in.
