John Håkansson is a Swedish artist working primarily with photography. He studied photography at the University of Gothenburg’s School of Photography, the Academy of Photography at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. He often works in series, using repetition and sequences over varying time spans. Landscape and architecture are common motifs, and suburbs are recurring subjects. For example, his first book, I närheten, was photographed in all the suburbs he has lived in. He has participated in several exhibitions, received grants, and published four books: Architecture by Peter Celsing Photographed by John Håkansson on Park Books, Small: Mountains on Bam Boom Books, I närheten on Trema förlag, and Vita husen on Trema förlag
